The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is sadden to announce that Mr. Kenneth Loxton “Ken” Weeks, the oldest known living person in Australia, the oldest known man ever to have lived in Australia, and the WORLD’S OLDEST LIVING MAN, celebrated his 113th birthday in Grafton, New South Wales, on 5 October 2026.

Ken Weeks was born in Grafton, New South Wales, Australia, on 5 October 1913, as the eldest of five children.

In 1941, at the start of World War II, Weeks married Jean McPhee, going on to have two children together – both sons. They were married for 45 years before Jean’s death in 1986.

During World War II, he applied to join the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), but at a height of just 1.5 meters, his short stature led to him being turned away. After World War II, he set up a radio and electrical sales and repair business at 59 Prince St, which he operated for several years before later replacing it with a milk bar. He eventually worked as a school bus driver in Clarence Valley, before ultimately retiring at the age of 65.

He lived independently until the age of 104. Shortly before turning 105, he moved to a care facility in Grafton.

On 17 September 2022, following the death of 110-year-old Frank Mawer, Weeks became the oldest known living man in Australia.

On 5 October 2023, Weeks celebrated his 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian.

On 15 January 2024, his age was officially validated by the GRG, verified by Oliver Trim and Dr. Wacław Jan Kroczek.

On 5 June 2024, following the death of 111-year-old Olga Abate, Weeks became the oldest known living person in Australia.

On 12 April 2025, at the age of 111 years and 189 days, Weeks surpassed the final age of Dexter Kruger (1910–2021) of 111 years and 188 days, becoming the oldest known man ever in Australia.

On 5 October 2025, Weeks celebrated his 112th birthday, making him the first known Australian man to reach this age. He later celebrated his 113th birthday on 5 October 2026. At the age of 113, he is still able to walk with a walker.

On 27 May 2026, following the death of 112-year-old Ilie Ciocan of Romania, he became the world’s oldest age-validated living man.

Ken Weeks currently lives in Grafton, New South Wales, Australia, at the age of 113. He’s currently the fourth-oldest known person ever in Australia, after Christina Cock, Beatrice Mears, and Ethel Farrell.

The GRG extends warm congratulations to Mr. Ken Weeks on his 113th birthday. We wish him continued good health and happiness.
