Biography

Christina Clay was born in Portland, Victoria, Australia, on December 25 1887 to parents Charles and Ellen Norah (nee Martyn) Clay.

In 1913 she married Wilbert William Cock and they went on to have at least two children together. Wilbert passed away in 1986, after which Christina didn’t marry again. They had been married for almost 73 years.

In December 1997, Christina became a supercentenarian on turning 110.

She passed away in Melbourne, Victoria, on May 22 2002, aged 114 years, 148 days. Christina was the first Australian to reach the ages of 113 and 114.
