Jelisaveta Veljkovic (1904-2016) validation
The GRG announces today the age validation of Jelisaveta Veljkovic, nee Vicenca Kufner. Jelisaveta was born in present-day Croatia (then Austria-Hungary) on July 18th 1904. At the age of 16 she moved with friends to Belgrade, Serbia (then Yugoslavia). When Jelisaveta was 20, she married Stanislav Veljkovic and went on to have 12 children. Stanislav sadly passed away in 1983. Longevity seems to run in Jelisaveta’s family – one aunt lived to 103 and one uncles lived to 104.
Jelisaveta passed away on October 20th 2016, aged 112 years, 94 days. She is the record-holder for Croatia and Serbia, currently.
Her age was verified by Dejan Vujic, our correspondent for Serbia, later accepted by the GRG on October 7th 2023.
