Lillie Cunningham, the oldest known living person in the U.S. state of Alabama, celebrates her 112th birthday
The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is pleased to announce that Mrs. Lillie Cunningham (née Reynolds), the oldest known living person in the U.S. state of Alabama, celebrated her 112th birthday in Florence, on 26 September 2026.
Lillie Cunningham was born as Lillie Reynolds in Florence, Lauderdale County, Alabama, USA, on 26 September 1914, to parents James and Irene Reynolds.
In the 1930s, Lillie married Charles (“Charlie”) Cunningham, whom she has outlived. They had no known children.
On 26 September 2024, Lillie celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian. On her 110th birthday, the City of Florence recognized her with the Key to the City, and she received a call from President Joe Biden.
On 7 October 2024, her age was officially validated by the GRG, verified by GRG-UK Correspondent Oliver Trim.
On 29 March 2025, following the death of 111-year-old Emma Robinson of Coosa County, she became the oldest known living person in the U.S. state of Alabama.
Lillie Cunningham currently lives in Florence, Alabama, USA, at the age of 112.
