    The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is sadden to reported that Mrs. Alice Rebecca Langford (née Bray), the oldest living person in Virginia, USA, sadly passed away in Richmond on 12 April 2026 at the final age of 111 years and 144 days. Alice Langford was born as Alice Rebecca Bray in South Carolina, USA, on 19 November 1914, to parents James and Jodie Bray. She was one of five children born to Rev. and Mrs. Bray. She spent much of her childhood in Georgia. On 9 December 1933, Alice married Heard Emmett Langford in Greenville, South Carolina. They went on to have three children together – a son and two daughters. By 1950, the family were living in Virginia.…

    The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is pleased to announce that Mrs. Ema Ana Schneider de Arbuet, the oldest living person in Urugray, has celebrated her 110th birthday on 10 April 2026 in Colonia Department. Ana Schneider was born in Colonia Department, Uruguay, on 10 April 1916 (claims 1 April 1916), to Guillermo Schneider and Ema Hellbusch. She had 12 siblings. Her nephew is reported to be alive over the age of 90. On 3 September 2024, following the death of 109 year old Teresa Bottazzi, she became the oldest known living person in Uruguay, but 110-year-old Ana claims to be older.     The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is sadden to reported that Mrs. Alma Marie Kamrowski (née Schwinghammer), the oldest living person in Washington, USA, sadly passed away in Seattle on 9 April 2026 at the final age of 112 years and 133 days. Alma Kam was born as Alma Marie Schwinghammer in Mount Carmel, North Dakota, USA, on 27 November 1913, to parents Frank and Anna Schwinghammer. Alma often goes by “El Marie”. In 1937, Alma married Felix Kamrowski in Nevada. They went on to have two child together – a daughter and a son. Felix sadly passed away on 5 October 1992, aged 84. Alma did not remarry after this.     The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is pleased to announce that Mrs. Ioana Lungu, the second-oldest living woman in Romania, has celebrated her 110th birthday on 7 April 2026 in Grozești, Mehedinți County. Ioana Lungu was born in the town of Şusița, Mehedinți County, Romania, on 7 April 1916. She was married to the late Ion Lungu, a war veteran who died on the front in World War II. They had three children: a daughter and two sons. On 7 April 2026, Lungu celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian, an age that inspires respect and admiration.     The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is sadden to report the death of Mrs. Chiyono Eguchi (江口チヨノ), the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture, Japan, sadly passed away in Agano City on 6 April 2026 at the age of 111 years and 329 days. Chiyono Eguchi was born in Japan on 12 May 1914. On 12 May 2024, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian. On 3 September 2025, following the death of 111-year-old Toyo Kondō (近藤豊) of Sanjō City, she became the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture.
