Winnie Felps, Texas’ second-oldest living person, celebrated her 113th birthday

The Gerontology Research Group is pleased to announce that Mrs. Winnie Felps, the second-oldest living person in the U.S. state of Texas, celebrated her 113th birthday on 10 October 2024.
Winnie Felps was born in Coryell County, Texas, USA on 10 October 1911 as the daughter of Bunyan Polk and Fannie Belle Powell (née Newman). She was one of at least eight siblings.
On Christmas Eve in 1935, she married Ralph Felps in Lampasas County, Texas, beginning a journey of love and companionship that would last for nearly 47 years. During their years together, the couple welcomed eight children into their lives: Dorothy, Jimmie, Randy, Barbara, Sandra, Brenda, Ralph Jr., and Winnie Lee.
Winnie faced both the joys and challenges of motherhood, demonstrating her strength and dedication in raising a large family. In November 1982, she experienced the loss of her beloved husband, Ralph, marking the end of a lifelong partnership that had endured for decades.
On 10 October 2021, Winnie Felps celebrated her remarkable 110th birthday, joining the ranks of supercentenarians. Her long and rich life, marked by love, family, and resilience, was a testament to her enduring spirit.
As of her 113th birthday, she is the second-oldest living person in the U.S. state of Texas, behind 115-year-old Elizabeth Francis.
