Alma Kam, the oldest living person in Washington, USA, dies at 112

The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is sadden to reported that Mrs. Alma Marie Kamrowski (née Schwinghammer), the oldest living person in Washington, USA, sadly passed away in Seattle on 9 April 2026 at the final age of 112 years and 133 days.
Alma Kam was born as Alma Marie Schwinghammer in Mount Carmel, North Dakota, USA, on 27 November 1913, to parents Frank and Anna Schwinghammer. Alma often goes by “El Marie”.
In 1937, Alma married Felix Kamrowski in Nevada. They went on to have two child together – a daughter and a son. Felix sadly passed away on 5 October 1992, aged 84. Alma did not remarry after this. The family tend to use the shortened version of the surname Kamrowski – “Kam”.
Alma has lived in several states of the US during her life – North Dakota, Oregon, Minnesota, Washington.
On 27 November 2023, Alma celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
On 22 April 2024, following the death of 110-year-old Dorothy Reed of Chelan County, Alma became the oldest living person in Washington.
Alma’s age was verified by Oliver Trim and the Kam family, then validated by the GRG on 9 December 2024.
Alma passed away in Seattle, Washington, USA, on 9 April 2026, at the age of 112 years and 133 days. Her funeral will be held on 30 April 2026.
