Mary Harris celebrates 114th birthday in Tennessee
The Gerontology Research Group is thrilled to share news that Mary Harris is celebrating her 114th birthday today.
Mary was born May 13 1911 in Ithaca, New York, USA to Italian immigrant parents. Born premature, she reportedly wasn’t expected to live. In 1937 she married James Harris, eventually retiring to Florida at the end of their working lives. Later they moved to Tennessee, where Mary still lives after being widowed in 2003.
Mary is the second-oldest known person living in the United States behind Naomi Whitehead of Pennsylvania.
The GRG extends many congratulations to Mary Harris on reaching such a remarkable age and wishes many more happy and healthy years to come!
