The Gerontology Research Group is saddened to learn of the passing of Isabel Barletta of Argentina.

News was recently shared via social media that she had passed away – confirmed as May 12 2025, aged 113 years, 242 days.

Isabel was born on September 12 1911 in Flores, Buenos Aires, Argentina – the same town in which she was to pass 113 years later. She credited ‘respecting others, helping those in need and appreciating nature’ as her recipe for a long life. Longevity also seems to run in her family – a sister died in 2018 at 104 years of age.

Isabel had been the oldest known and validated person in Argentina following the passing of Casilda Benegas on June 22 2022.

The GRG extends it’s sincere condolences to Isabel’s family and friends, as well as to all who knew her. Those close to her may take comfort in a very long life.
