Fujiko Mihara, Ehime Prefecture’s oldest living person, dies at 114
The Gerontology Research Group is saddened to report news that Mrs. Fujiko Mihara (三原富士子), the oldest living person in Ehime Prefecture and the fourth-oldest in Japan, passed away in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, Japan on 18 December 2024 at the age of 114 years, 5 days.
Fujiko Mihara was born in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, Japan on 13 December 1910.
On 13 December 2020, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian.
In September 2022, she was reported as the oldest living person in Ehime Prefecture.
At the time of her death, Fujiko Mihara was the second-oldest person ever to have lived in Ehime Prefecture, only behind Osugi Sogo (1905–2019) who died at the age of 114 years, 82 days. Mihara was also the fourth-oldest living person in Japan, after Tomiko Itooka, Okagi Hayashi and Mine Kondō, and was the 12th-oldest living person in the world.
