Biography

Mine Kondō was born in the village of Ikuma (now part of Toyota City), Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on September 1, 1910. At the age of 20, she married a farmer and had six children.

As of September 2015, she had 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. In September 2020, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian.

On March 2 2023, following the death of 112-year-old Shizu Narita, she became the oldest living person in Aichi Prefecture.

On April 26 2025, following the death of 115-year-old Okagi Hayashi, she became the oldest living person in Japan, and Asia.

Mine Kondō died in Kōta, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on May 20 2025, at the age of 114 years, 261 days.
