Lina Anundsen and Margit Larsen, jointly the oldest living persons in Norway, celebrated their 110th birthday
The Gerontology Research Group is pleased to announce news that Mrs. Lina Anundsen of Siljan, Telemark County, Eastern Norway, and Mrs. Margit Larsen of Odda, Vestland County, Western Norway, the joint oldest living persons in Norway, celebrated their 110th birthday on 12 November 2024.
Lina Anundsen (née Solheim) was born in Kløverød, near the village of Siljan, in Telemark County, Norway on 12 November 1914, to parents Ole Edvardsen (1882–1963) and Inga Larsdatter (1881–1950). She was the fourth of nine siblings. In her youth, she loved dancing, but after several preachers visited, she became a devout Christian and attended the village prayer house for many years. In 1934, at the age of 20, she married Gunnar Anundsen (1913–2002) and had six children over the next 19 years. Her husband passed away in 2002 at the age of 89. At the age of 101, she moved to a nursing home in Siljan.
On 25 May 2022, following the death of 107-year-old Astrid Lunde, she became the joint oldest living woman in Norway.
On 27 February 2024, following the death 109-year-old of Vidar Eide, she became the joint oldest living person in Norway.
Margit Larsen (née Bogetveit) was born in Åsane, Vestland County, Western Norway, Norway on 12 November 1914. When she was six years old, with her family, she moved to Odda, Hordaland County. She was the second of five siblings. In 1950, at the age of 35, she married Erling Larsen, and had one child, Ingebjørg (born 1951). Margit Larsen has three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Celebrating their 110th birthday, Lina Anundsen and Margit Larsen, became the first people in the history of Norway to share a birthday and the title of oldest living person in the country.
