Hilario Orozco Lemus, Mexico’s oldest living man, celebrated his 111th birthday
The Gerontology Research Group is pleased to announce news that Mr. Hilario Orozco Lemus, the oldest living man in Mexico, celebrated his 111th birthday in Cerano, Guanajuato, Mexico on 3 November 2024.
Hilario Orozco Lemus was born in Puruándiro, Michoacán, Mexico on 3 November 1913.
In May 1936, at the age of 22, Hilario married the love of his life, Eloisa Serrano, marking the beginning of a beautiful journey together. The couple was blessed with eleven children, seven daughters, and four sons, creating a tapestry of familial warmth and connection.
For almost 80 years, Hilario and Eloisa stood side by side, navigating life’s joys and challenges together until her death in April 2016. Their enduring love story became a testament to commitment and partnership.
On 20 August 2023, following the death of 109-year-old Maurilio Montano Oliver, he became the oldest living man in Mexico.
3 November 2023, brought a momentous celebration as Hilario Orozco Lemus marked his 110th birthday, ascending to the honored status of a supercentenarian. The milestone was a reflection of a life richly lived, surrounded by the love and support of his extensive family.
His age was verified by Leonardo Romero, Oliver Trim, Natalie Coles and Dr. Aubrey de Grey, and validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) on 24 December 2023. In August 2024, he was visited by Natalie Coles and Aubrey de Grey.
As of his 111th birthday, he is the third-oldest living person in Mexico, behind 111-year-old Eulalia Bravo Bravo and 111-year-old Maria Concepcion Bravo Chavez. He is also the oldest living man in North America, and the fifth-oldest documented living man in the world, sharing the position and birthday with Julio Saldarriaga Hernandez of Colombia, who was also born on 3 November 1913.
