110-year-old Tokyo resident dies as Japan’s oldest living man
The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is saddened to announce news that the 110-year-old Tokyo resident who assumed the title of Japan’s oldest living man following the death of 110-year-old Tomisaburo Wakui on 5 July 2024, sadly died in Bunkyo City, Tokyo Prefecture, Japan on 21 August 2024 at the age of 110 years, 211 days.
Anonymous gentleman, whose name has been withheld for privacy reasons, was born in Tokyo Prefecture, Japan on 23 January 1914.
In July 2023, following the death of an almost 111-year-old anonymous man of Shinagawa, he became the oldest living man in Tokyo Prefecture.
On 5 July 2024, following the death of 110-year-old Tomisaburo Wakui, the anonymous man became the oldest living man in Japan.
His age was verified by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW), Wacław Jan Kroczek and Tom Li, and validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) on 25 August 2024.
Following his death, the new oldest living man in Japan is 110-year-old Kiyotaka Mizuno (水野清隆), born 14 March 1914, a resident of Iwata in Shizuoka Prefecture.
