Mine Kondo, Aichi Prefecture’s oldest living person, celebrated her 114th birthday

The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is delighted to report that Mrs. Mine Kondo of Toyota, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, celebrated her 114th birthday on 1 September 2024.

Mine Kondo was born in Ikuma-cho, Toyota, Aichi Prefecture, Japan on 1 September 1910. She married at the age of 20 with a farmer and had six children. At the age of 105, she had 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. On 1 September 2020, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian. On 2 March 2023, following the death of 112-year-old Shizu Narita, she became the oldest living person in Aichi Prefecture.
