Fana Naci, Albania’s oldest living person, celebrated her 110th birthday
Gerontology Research Group is pleased to announce that Mrs. Fana Naci, the oldest living person in Albania, celebrated her 110th birthday in Fier, Albania on 9 May 2024, becoming the second person ever recorded in Albania to celebrate 110th birthday, the first supercentenarian in Albania was Montenegrin-born Zenepe Piranić (1910–2021) who died in Shkoder at the age of 111 years, 56 days, while it is assumed that Fana Naci is the second Albanian-born person who reached the age of 110, the first Albanian-born supercentenarian was Vasilika Anastas (1912–2023) who died in Massachusetts, USA at the age of 110 years, 213 days.
Fana Naci was born in Fier County, Albania on 9 May 1914. She married in 1942 and had eight children. She did various jobs in agriculture, and later became a tailor. She spent most of her life in Fier. At the age of 105, she was still able to walk without help and do all the household chores.
She became the oldest living person in Albania, following the death of a 108-year-old Anonymous woman of Tirana region on 27 December 2022. Following the death of 110-year-old Vasilika Anastas of the USA on 16 July 2023, she became the oldest living Albanian-born person.
As confirmed to us by her brother’s daughter Mrs. Natasha Petro Mile, Mrs. Fana Naci celebrated her 110th birthday with her family in good health. On the link below is available a video interview with her, recorded in December 2019:
