Catherine Dion (1901-2012) validation

The GRG announces the age validation of Marie Catherine Dion, formerly Beland, nee Allain. Known as Catherine for most of her life, records indicate that she was Marie Catherine at birth. She was born July 26th 1901 on Prince Edward Island, Canada, to Charles and Elizabeth Allain. The 1911 Canada census would point to her having at least seven siblings. Catherine moved to the US around the age of 18, settling in Massachusetts first, then New Hampshire. She first married Alfred Beland on February 23rd 1925, with whom she had two children – a son and a daughter. All three preceded her in death. Alfred passed away in 1931. In 1944, Catherine married for a second time – this time to Ernest Dion, in Massachusetts. They had no children together and Catherine was again widowed in 1998. She remained active into later life, eventually moving into a care facility in Windham, New Hampshire, where she passed away on June 21st 2012, aged 110 years, 331 days.

Catherine’s age was verified by Anson Davis and Ilias Leivaditis, then accepted by the GRG with a retroactive date of October 19th 2016.
