Lina Anundsen, the oldest known living person in Norway, dies at 111
The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is saddened to reported that Mrs. Lina Anundsen (née Solheim), the oldest known living person in Norway, sadly passed away in Siljan, Telemark County on 2 August 2026 at the final age of 111 years and 263 days.
Lina Anundsen was born as Lina Solheim in Kløverød, near the village of Siljan, Telemark County, Norway, on 12 November 1914, to parents Ole Edvardsen and Inga Larsdatter.
In 1934, at the age of 20, she married Gunnar Anundsen and had six children together. Her husband passed away in 2002 at the age of 89. At the age of 101, she moved to a nursing home in Siljan.
On 25 May 2022, following the death of 107-year-old Astrid Bjaaland, she became the joint oldest known living woman in Norway, along with Margit Larsen, who shared the same birthday as her.
On 27 February 2024, following the death of 109-year-old Vidar Eide, she became the joint oldest known living person in Norway until the death of 111-year-old Larsen on 27 December 2025, when she became the sole titleholder.
On 12 November 2024, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Her age was verified by Dr. Wacław Jan Kroczek and Oliver Trim, and validated by the GRG on 7 December 2024.
Lina Anundsen passed away in a care facility in Siljan, Telemark County, Norway, on 2 August 2026, at the age of 111 years and 263 days. Following her death, then 110-year-old Edna Ellynore Moum (born 12 October 1915) of Vestfold County became the oldest known living person in Norway.
