The validation of Sueko Katsu, 111, of Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan

The Gerontology Research Group is delighted to announce the validation of Mrs. Sueko Katsu of Japan.

Sueko Katsu was born in Japan on 26 March 1912. In March 2022, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian. Sueko Katsu currently lives in Setouchi, Amami Oshima, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan at the age of 111 years, 254 days.

In September 2022, Sueko Katsu (aged 110) was reported as the second-oldest living person in Kagoshima Prefecture, behind 110-year old Michi Hamada of Satsumasendai.

In September 2023, Sueko Katsu (aged 111) was reported as the oldest living person in Kagoshima Prefecture.

Sueko Katsu’s age was meticulously examined and verified by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare, and validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) as of June 21, 2023.
