Japan: Hiro Matsumoto, 112, and Yuki Nitta, 112, the oldest living persons in Chiba Prefecture and Fukuoka Prefecture
The Gerontology Research Group is delighted to announce the validation of Mrs. Hiro Matsumoto of Japan (Chiba).
Hiro Matsumoto was born in Japan on 9 September 1911. In September 2021, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian. In September 2023, Matsumoto was reported as the oldest living person in Chiba Prefecture. Hiro Matsumoto currently lives in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, at the age of 112 years, 72 days.
Hiro Matsumoto was verified by MHLW, Japan, and W.J. Kroczek, and validated by the GRG as of Nov. 15, 2023.
The Gerontology Research Group is also delighted to announce the validation of Mrs. Yuki Nitta of Japan (Fukuoka).
Yuki Nitta born in Japan on 10 August 1911. Yuki Nitta has woven a tapestry of resilience and longevity that continues to inspire. In September 2016, at the vibrant age of 105, she had the honor of hosting the mayor of Buzen, Motohide Goto, a testament to her esteemed presence in the community of Buzen City. At that time, she resided in Unoshima, Buzen, and was the second-oldest living person in Buzen.
Fast forward to August 2021, and the air was filled with celebration as Yuki Nitta marked her 110th birthday, officially entering the exclusive league of supercentenarians. Her life’s journey took another remarkable turn in September 2023 when she was recognized as the oldest living person in the whole of Fukuoka Prefecture. Her predecessor was an anonymous 111-year-old woman from Kitakyushu.
As of her 112th birthday, Yuki Nitta continued to live in Buzen City. Her life story serves as a living testament to the richness that comes with each passing year, and her resilience echoes through the ages.
