Biography
Yuki Nitta was born in Buzen, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan on 10 August 1911. She has woven a tapestry of resilience and longevity that continues to inspire. In September 2016, at the vibrant age of 105, she had the honor of hosting the mayor of Buzen, Motohide Goto, a testament to her esteemed presence in the community of Buzen City. At that time, she resided in Unoshima, Buzen, and was the second-oldest living person in Buzen.
Fast forward to August 2021, and the air was filled with celebration as Yuki Nitta marked her 110th birthday, officially entering the exclusive league of supercentenarians. Her life’s journey took another remarkable turn in September 2023 when she was recognized as the oldest living person in the whole of Fukuoka Prefecture. Her predecessor was an anonymous 111-year-old woman from Kitakyushu.
Yuki Nitta died in hospital on 10 August 2024, on her 113th birthday.
