Biography
Wanda Wierzchleyska was born in Lviv, Austria-Hungary (now Lviv, located in Lviv Oblast in present-day Ukraine) on 3 March 1900. She was the oldest living person in Poland since the death of Michalina Wasilewska of Warsaw on 3 January 2010.
Wanda Wierzchleyska died in Warsaw on 18 January 2012, having reached the age of 111 years, 317 days. She was the last surviving person in Poland born in 1900.
In 2011 Wanda Wierzchleyska surpassed the national longevity record of Poland set by Rozalia Milczarek in 1979, becoming the Longevity Recordholder of Poland, until her own was surpassed by Tekla Juniewicz in 2018.
