Correction to earlier statement
In relation to the earlier statement on the death of Henriqueta Soares Marques, the first report we received indicated a time and date of death of January 13th (today) at 3AM. After receiving another communication from a family member, we are correcting the time and date of death to January 12th at around 9.35pm, local time. We extend our apologies to the family for not getting this correct at the time – the information we received initially was not quite accurate. The GRG again sends it’s sincere condolences to all who knew Henriqueta.
Henriqueta Soares Marques (1911-2024)
The GRG is saddened to report the death of Henriqueta Soares Marques of Brazil. Her death was confirmed by her family via Instagram today. She passed away around 9.35pm on January 12th 2024. She was apparently in good health and died naturally – as reported by her grandson. Henriqueta was the second-oldest validated living person before her passing. The Gerontology Research Group extends its sincere condolences to Henriqueta’s family and friends and all who knew her.
Dorothy Gwendoline Payne (1907-2019) validation
The GRG announces the age validation of Dorothy Gwendoline Payne, nee Attenborough, known as Gwen to family and friends. Gwen was born August 5th 1907 in Bromley, London, England. Dorothy married John Payne in 1939 and they went on to have two children – both sons. In 1946 the family moved to Sevenoaks, Kent, where Gwen lived for the rest of her long life. John sadly passed away in 1961, leaving Gwen a widow. She passed away on October 15th 2019, aged 112 years, 71 days. Hazel Windsor (1902-2013) validation
The GRG announces today the age validation of Hazel Elizabeth Windsor, nee Welhoff. Hazel was born November 14th 1902 in Columbus, Johnson County, Missouri, USA. In the early 1920’s, Hazel married Ivan Windsor and they went on to have three children. Sadly, Ivan died in 1980, leaving Hazel a widow. In 1962, Hazel and Ivan moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. They stayed there for some time before moving back to the US, settling in Overland Park, Johnson County, Kansas. Hazel died there on June 2nd 2013, aged 110 years, 200 days. Georgia Ellen Cooper (1882-1995) validation
The GRG announces the age validation of Georgia Ellen Cooper, nee Noble. Georgia was born October 19th 1882 in Brookland, Craighead County, Arkansas, USA. On September 25th 1899, at the age of nearly 17, she married John H Cooper and went on to have seven children. One of her sons lived to the age of 102, almost 103. John sadly passed away in 1951, leaving Georgia a widow for the remainder of her life. Georgia passed away in Sapulpa, Creek County, Oklahoma, aged 112 years, 352 days – just 13 days shy of 113.
