Lina Anundsen was born as Lina Solheim in Kløverød, near the village of Siljan, Telemark County, Norway, on 12 November 1914, to parents Ole Edvardsen and Inga Larsdatter. In 1934, at the age of 20, she married Gunnar Anundsen and had six children together. Her husband passed away in 2002 at the age of 89. At the age of 101, she moved to a nursing home in Siljan. Edwin Martin was born in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, on 15 February 1915, to parents Charles Andrew and Ida V (née Collins) Martin. In the 1930s, he married Esther Laverne Smith in Maryland and went on to have at least two children together – a son and a daughter.
