The GRG announces today the age validation of Sabina Zeig, nee Krebs. Sabina was born in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, USA, on November 12th 1872 (1899 marriage record says August 12th 1872), to German immigrant parents. On March 15th 1899, Sabina married Edward J Zeig in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. They had one known daughter, Vera, born 1899, who died in January 1933, aged 33. Sabina was sadly widowed when Edward died on March 12th 1941. She continued to live in Pennsylvania, spending the rest of her life there. The GRG announces the age validation of Mary Walker, nee Hybart (known as Mollie). Mollie was born in Cadoxton, Glamorgan, Wales, on February 5th 1909. In May 1931, Mollie married John L Walker in Peppard Church, Peppard, Kingwood. They went on to have two children together. Mollie was very keen on cars, acquiring her first at age 17 and not giving up driving until age 103. She was also awarded an MBE for her work in Civil Defence. The GRG announces the age validation of Marie Helene M Blake, formerly Pratte, nee Chenette (known as Helene). Helene was born in La Patrie, Quebec, Canada, on June 23rd 1902, to Hector Chenette and Obdula (Lefebvre) Chenette. She had at least 5 siblings. In May 1912 the family moved to the US, settling in Massachusetts. On August 3rd 1926, Helene married Charles A Pratte and went on to have two sons. After Charles passed away she married John Blake. The GRG announces today the age validation of Sara Ann Ashman, nee Suppes. Sara was born November 23rd 1912 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, USA, to George Osborn Suppes and Marion (Dibert) Suppes. She had at least two siblings – both sisters. In 1936, Sara married Wilbur M Ashman and went on to have three children. The couple spent each winter in Florida, with Sara continuing to live there full-time after Wilbur died in 1990. In 2012, Sara moved to Idaho Falls, Bonneville County, Idaho, to live with her daughter. She still lives in the same city today, at age 111. Sara is the oldest known person living in Idaho…
Helene Gruat (1913-present) validation
The GRG announces the age validation of Helene Gruat, nee Rambaud of France. Helene was born in Paris, Ile-de-France, France, on March 8th 1913. She worked as an executive secretary in Paris and got married. Helene lived independently until she was 106, when she moved into a nursing facility. She is reportedly in reasonable health at 110, living now in Roquefort-la-Bedoule, Bouches-du-Rhone, Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur. Helene’s age was verified by Sylvain Grosgeorge, accepted by the GRG as valid from today, January 19th 2024.
