Mollie Walker (1909-2022) validation
The GRG announces the age validation of Mary Walker, nee Hybart (known as Mollie). Mollie was born in Cadoxton, Glamorgan, Wales, on February 5th 1909. In May 1931, Mollie married John L Walker in Peppard Church, Peppard, Kingwood. They went on to have two children together. Mollie was very keen on cars, acquiring her first at age 17 and not giving up driving until age 103. She was also awarded an MBE for her work in Civil Defence.
Mollie became the oldest known living person in the UK in July 2021 and is also recognized as the oldest person ever born in Wales. She lived in the same house her husband built in the 1930’s in Kingwood until her final days, when she passed away at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, aged 112 years, 351 days.
Mollie’s age was verified by myself, et al, and accepted as valid on July 18th 2023 by the GRG.
