Dora Caverson, the oldest known living woman in Australia, celebrated her 112th birthday
The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is pleased to announce that Mrs. Dora Caverson (née Fridberg), the oldest known living woman in Australia, celebrated her 112th birthday in Dianella, Western Australia, on 10 September 2026.
Dora Caverson was born as Dora Fridberg in Glasgow, Scotland, UK, on 10 September 1914.
In 1954, she married Joseph Caverson and had a son together. They were only married for 16 years before Joe died. They had lived in South Africa for some time.
In the 1980s, she followed her son to Australia, where she continues to live.
On 8 March 2024, following the death of 110-year-old Alfreda Screaigh, she became the oldest known living person in Western Australia.
On 10 September 2024, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian. The following day, her age was officially validated by the GRG, verified by Oliver Trim and Dr. Wacław Jan Kroczek.
On 7 September 2026, three days before her 112th birthday, she became the oldest known living woman in Austalia, following the death of 112-year-old Lorna Henstridge of South Australia.
Dora Caverson currently lives in Dianella, Western Australia, Australia, at the age of 112. She’s currently the oldest known living woman in Australia, and the second-oldest known living person in Australia, after Ken Weeks of New South Wales.
