Bernabé Córdoba, the oldest known living man in Costa Rica, celebrated his 111th birthday
The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is pleased to announce that Mr. Bernabé Córdoba, the oldest known living man in Costa Rica, has celebrated his 111th birthday on 11 June 2026 in Salitral, Santa Ana, San José.
Bernabé Córdoba was born Guanacaste province, Costa Rica, on 11 June 1915 to Carolina Córdoba. He was baptized on 19 December 1915.
Later, he married Ofelia Villegas Vargas and reportedly had two children together.
On 20 January 2024, following the death of 110-year-old Juan Gabriel Hernández Matamoros of Heredia, he became the oldest known living man in Costa Rica.
On 11 June 2025, Bernabé celebrated his 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
On 20 June 2025, nine days after his 110th birthday, his age was validated by the GRG, verified by GRG-UK Correspondent Oliver Trim.
Bernabé Córdoba currently lives in Salitral, Santa Ana, San José, Costa Rica at the age of 111.
