Oldest known living person in the United States turns 115

The Gerontology Research Group is pleased to pass on news that Naomi Whitehead, the oldest known living person in the US, is celebrating her 115th birthday today.

Naomi Washington was born on September 26 1910 in Patterson, Pierce County, Georgia, to parents Douglas and Pauline. She married Sylvester Whitehead in the 1930’s and had three children. Naomi was widowed in 1979 and never remarried. She now lives in Greenville, Mercer County, Pennsylvania in a care facility.
