Gertrude Gilham (1886-1996) validation

The GRG announces the age validation of Gertrude Eva Gilham, nee Pottruff. Gertrude was born July 14th 1886 in Paris, Brant County, Ontario, Canada, to Alfred and Loretta Pottruff. On June 1st 1911, she married Cyril Herbert Gilham, going on to have one child together – a daughter named Reba (Rebecca). Sadly, Cyril died in the First World War in 1916, after which Gertrude did not remarry. Reba lived in the US for a time, with Gertrude going back and forth visiting. Then in 1955, Reba and her family moved to Saskatoon, along with Gertrude. Reba sadly predeceased her mother. In 1988, Gertrude moved to Toronto, where she would spend the rest of her life. She died there on October 6th 1996, aged 110 years, 81 days.

Gertrude’s age was verified by Filipe Prista Lucas, Anson Davis and Ilias Leivaditis and accepted by the GRG as validated with a retroactive date of October 22nd 2016.
