The Gerontology Research Group is saddened to report the passing of Edna Strickland. A close family member made contact today to say that she had passed this afternoon (16th of January).
We want to take this opportunity to extend our sincere sympathies to the family and all who knew her. The excellent care of her family, care staff and medical staff, keeping her in her own home where she wanted to be, was very commendable. We hope that comfort can be found in knowing the incredible job they did caring for their loved one, and also that she lived such a very long life.
We would also like to thank the family for their assistance in validating Edna’s age and for staying in contact with us.

As a global non-profit scientific organization, we are dedicated to validating ages, recording, and researching supercentenarians — people who are at least 110 years old. With a history spanning 33 years since our founding in 1990, our passion lies in studying and creating knowledge about human longevity, healthy aging, and the lives of the oldest people on earth.
