Mary Erskine (1884-1995) validation

The GRG announces the validation of Mary Caroline Erskine, nee Williams. Mary was born in Honea Path, Anderson County, South Carolina, USA, on September 21st 1884. On July 7th 1915, Mary married William Arthur Erskine and they went on to have three children – one of which sadly died at the age of 5. In her working life, Mary was a milliner and then a seamstress. She spent her entire life living in South Carolina. Until six months before her passing, Mary had been active and in good health – the last six months she suffered from an undisclosed illness. Mary died on October 10th 1995, aged 111 years, 19 days, in West Columbia, Lexington County, South Carolina.

Her age was verified by Jason King, later accepted by the GRG as valid with a retrospective date of April 16th 2016.
