Rosa Beckner (1903-2015) validation
The GRG announces the age validation of Rosa Beckner. Rosa May Beckner, formerly Bryant, nee Jamison, was born in Roanoke County, Virginia, USA, on November 11th 1903. In February 1928, Rosa married her first husband, James Preston Bryant, going on to have two sons. Sadly, Rosa was widowed when James died on March 18th 1941. On April 7th 1945, Rosa married her second husband, Carl Henry Beckner. Carl already had six children from a previous marriage, so Rosa gained many step-children! Together, they had no known children. For a time they lived together in North Carolina. Carl sadly passed away on June 12th 1973, leaving Rosa a widow. Five years after his death, she decided to move back to Virginia, where she spent her remaining years.
Many of Rosa’s family members lived well into their 90’s and one of her sisters lived to be 108 – longevity would appear to run in their family. Rosa passed away in Franklin County, Virginia, aged 111 years, 88 days. She was one of the oldest people in Virginia at the time of her death.
Rosa’s age was verified by Anson Davis and myself, later accepted as retroactively validated on April 10th 2016.
