The validation of Karen Rigmor Moritz, 110, Doyenne of Denmark

The GRG is delighted to announce the age validation of Karen Rigmor Moritz of Denmark. Karen was born on August 15th 1913 in the North Jutland Region of Denmark. She married Sven Moritz and went on to have three children. Karen is the oldest known living person in Denmark since January 2022, the oldest known person ever from the North Jutland Region and the first person to reach supercentenarian status in Denmark since December 2020.
Karen Rigmor Moritz was born on August 15, 1913, in Nørresundby, Aalborg, North Jutland Region, Denmark. Her father, a city gardener in Aalborg, was credited with designing the city’s Zoo and the Kildeparken public park.
Married to Sven Moritz, a lawyer, public prosecutor, and former police chief, they had three children and represented Aalborg at numerous official events. Later in life, at the age of 100, Rigmor adopted a vegan lifestyle, but the nursing home staff advised a return to a diet including meat for additional protein to maintain a healthy weight.
Her granddaughter, Vibeke Hartkorn, is a Danish journalist and former TV Avisen studio host.
Karen Rigmor Moritz’s age was meticulously examined and verified by Waclaw Jan Kroczek GRG Correspondent for the Nordic Countries, and validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) as of September 28, 2023.
