Helena Michalik was born in Pennsylvania, United States on 22 May 1914. Later she moved to Poland.
Helena Michalik has witnessed over a century of incredible changes and events. She resided in Kazimierza Wielka, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, Poland, where she continued to inspire those around her with her longevity and wisdom. She became the oldest living person in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship in March 2022.
The team of GRG scientists paid a visit to Helena Michalik on 10 February 2024, verifying her age together with her family, and paying tribute to Mrs. Michalik herself. She is the third supercentenarian in the history of Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship behind Marianna Smolarczyk of Łubno, Kielce County (1897–2007) and Julianna Garbacz of Końskie, Końskie County (1900–2010).
Helena Michalik is the first validated American-born supercentenarian who turned 110 in Poland. She was the doyenne of Poland, since the death of 111-year-old Anna Gawłowska of Czerwionka-Leszczyny, Silesia Voivodeship.
In June 2024, Helena Michalik surpassed the age of Marianna Smolarczyk and became the oldest person in history of Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship.
Helena Michalik passed away in Kazimierza Wielka, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, Poland, on 07.09.2024 at the age of 110 years, 108 days.
