Chester Meros, the second-oldest known living man in the USA, dies at 110

The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is sadden to reported that Mrs. Chester Thomas Meros, the oldest known living man in the U.S. state of Maryland, as well as the second-oldest known living man in the USA, sadly passed away in Baltimore, Baltimore Country on 9 July 2026 at the final age of 110 years and 360 days.
Chester Meros was born in New Philadelphia, Schuyklkill County, Pennsylvania, USA, on 14 July 1915, to parents Anthony and Veronica Meros.
In 1943, he married Helen Ann Wierzbickt and they went on to have at least two children together. In the 1940’s, Chester moved to Baltimore, Maryland, looking for work. Helen passed away in 2013 at the age of 95.
On 4 October 2022, following the death of 111-year-old Ezra Hill of Baltimore (who was also the oldest known living man in the USA at the time of his death), he became the oldest known living man in the U.S. state of Maryland.
On 14 July 2025, he celebrated his 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian. On that day, his age was validated by the GRG, verified by GRG-UK Correspondnet Oliver Trim.
Chester Meros passed away in Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland, USA, on 9 July 2026, at the age of 110 years and 360 days, just five days shy of his 111th birthday. At the time of his death, he was the second-oldest known living man in the USA, behind Edwin Martin of Florida. Following his death, then 109-year-old Arthur Green (born 9 December 1916) of Baltimore, Baltimore County became the oldest known living man in the U.S. state of Maryland.
