Age validation of Mrs Gizella Simon
The Gerontology Research Group is delighted to announce the age validation of Gizella Maria Simon, nee Wagner.
Gizella was born November 20 1914 in Debrecen, Hajdú-Bihar County, Hungary to Antal and Julianna (nee Tütos) Wagner. She married Gedeon Simon on January 24 1935 and started a family. Gedeon sadly passed away in 1989, leaving Gizella a widow – she did not remarry after this. Shortly after Gedeon’s death, Gizella moved to Australia, settling in New South Wales. By 1992, she had gained Australian citizenship.
In November 2014, Gizella celebrated her 100th birthday, receiving congratulations from the Governor and Premier of New South Wales, the Parliament of New South Wales and the Australian Prime Minister.
Gizella currently lives in a care facility in Alstonville, New South Wales, having celebrated her 110th birthday last November.
The GRG extends warm congratulations to her on achieving 110 years of living and wishes many more years of good health. We would also like to thank the family for getting in contact and assisting greatly in the validation process.
