Age validation of Pete Traut (1875-1986)

Pete Traut, born Peter Traudt, came into the world on October 21 1875 in Norka, Volga region, Russia. His parents were Johann and Elisabeth (nee Hohstein) Traudt and he had at least one sibling, born in 1882.

In 1902, Pete married Elizabeth Fegler whilst living in Europe, then moved to the United States in 1906, settling in Colorado. Pete would spend the rest of his life living in Colorado. He spent all of his working life as a farmer.

On January 29 1967, Elizabeth passed away, leaving Pete a widow. After this, Pete moved to live with two of his daughters in another part of Colorado.

Pete passed away on January 21 1986 in a nursing home in Colorado, as reported by the Reporter Herald newspaper, and was interred on January 24 1986. He was reportedly survived by five of his daughters.

Given the date and place of birth, calendar changes come into effect in the intervening years. Taking this into account, by today’s calendar Pete was born November 3 1875. His final achieved age was therefore 110 years, 79 days.

Special thanks for this validation go to Roger Burbank for retrieving the Russian church and civil records to help complete this case. Pete’s claimed age and date of birth were consistent throughout his whole life, so finding the birth records to confirm this made for a solid case.

Pete’s age was accepted as validated today, January 23 2025, verified by Roger Burbank, Dr. Waclaw Jan Kroczek and Oliver Trim.
