Andrée Bertoletto, vice-doyenne of France, celebrated her 114th birthday
The Gerontology Research Group is pleased to announce news that Mrs. Andrée Bertoletto, the second-oldest living person in France, celebrated her 114th birthday in Montsûrs, Mayenne, Pays de la Loire, France, on 1 January 2025. On her 114th birthday, she was visited by GRG Correspondent for France, Sylvain Grosgeorge.
Andrée Bertoletto was born in La Chapelle-Anthenaise, Mayenne, Pays de la Loire, France, on 1 January 1911. She had one sister named Marie, as well as two brothers, Robert and Ernest. In 1913, she relocated to Montsurs, Mayenne, Pays de la Loire.
On 25 May 1935, in Montsûrs, she married Désiré Alphonse Désiderio Alfonso Bertoletto, who was the head of a construction company. She was widowed in 1978. The couple had no children.
She resided in her own home until the age of 105, when she endured a challenging night cleaning up after a flood. Subsequently, she moved to the nursing home called “La douceur de vivre” in Montsûrs.
On 1 January 2021, she celebrated her 110th birthday, earning the prestigious status of a supercentenarian. At the age of 110, she had 14 nephews, 30 grand-nephews, and 20 great-grand-nephews, having outlived three other nephews.
On 17 January 2021, following the death of 113-year-old Marie-Louise Berthelot, Bertoletto became the oldest living person in Mayenne Departement.
