Age validation of 111-year-old Josino Levino Ferreira of Brazil, world’s second-oldest living man
The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is pleased to announce that the scientific age validation process for Mr. Josino Levino Ferreira of Coronel Ezequiel, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, has been completed with the respectful and highly appreciated help and support from his family members. By the age validation, we recognize Mr. Levino Ferreira of Brazil, aged 111, as the second-oldest living man in the world, behind Guinness World Records-validated World’s Oldest Man 112-year old John Tinniswood of the United Kingdom.
Josino Levino Ferreira was born in Conceicao, Paraiba, Brazil on 3 April 1913. For his entire career, he worked as a farmer. In 1941, he married Sebastiana Ana da Conceicao. Ana died in 2001 at the age of 87.
On 3 April 2023, he celebrated his 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian.
On 1 November 2023, following the death of 110-year-old Joao de Missanga, he became the oldest known living man in Brazil.
On 2 April 2024, following the death of 114-year-old Juan Vicente Perez Mora of Venezuela, he became the oldest living man in South America.
On 29 June 2024, following the death of 112-year-old Shi Ping of China, he became the second-oldest living man in the world, behind John Tinniswood of the United Kingdom.
His age was meticulously examined and verified by Guilherme Matheus, GRG Correspondent for Brazil, Maria Lindacir Ferreira and the Levino Ferreira family, and validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) on 16 September 2024.
