Biography

Josino Levino Ferreira was born in Conceicao, Paraiba, Brazil on 3 April 1913. For his entire career, he worked as a farmer. In 1941, he married Sebastiana Ana da Conceicao. Ana died in 2001 at the age of 87.

On 3 April 2023, he celebrated his 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian.

On 1 November 2023, following the death of 110-year-old Joao de Missanga, he became the oldest known living man in Brazil.

On 2 April 2024, following the death of 114-year-old Juan Vicente Perez Mora of Venezuela, he became the oldest living man in South America.

On 29 June 2024, following the death of 112-year-old Shi Ping of China, he became the world’s second-oldest living man.

At the age of 111, he has 3 living children, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Josino Levino Ferreira currently lives in Coronel Ezequiel, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil at the age of 111. He is currently the oldest living man in Brazil and South America, as well as the second-oldest validated living man in the world, behind John Tinniswood of the United Kingdom.
