Biography
Suoma Korkee was born as Suoma Alexandra Lehtanen in Lavia, Satakunta, Russian Empire (now Finland) on 30 May 1886. She was the daughter of Fihtari Lehtanen and Hanruka Lehtanen.
In 1907, she moved to Massachusetts, United States. In 1920, she married Sven Alfred Korkee (1883–1967).
On 30 May 1996, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian. Her daughter, Nina Korkee Pace died on 9 January 1998.
Suoma Korkee died in Raynham, Massachusetts, United States on 1 August 1998 at the age of 112 years, 63 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest Finnish-born person ever, however, her age was surpassed by Maria Rothovius (1887–2000) on 5 December 1999.
