Biography
Suoma Alexandra Lehtanen was born in Lavia, Satakunta, Finland (then a part of the Russian Empire), on May 30 1886 to parents Fihtari and Hanrüka Lehtanen.
In April 1907 she moved to the US, arriving in New York and settling in Massachusetts. On October 12 1907 she married Sven Alfred Korkee in Maynard, Middlesex County. The couple went on to have at least one child together – a daughter. Sven passed away on August 17 1967, leaving Suoma a widow for her remaining years.
In May 1996 she became a supercentenarian, celebrating her 110th birthday.
Suoma passed away in Raynham, Bristol County, Massachusetts, on August 1 1998 at the age of 112 years, 77 days.
