Biography
Shi Ping was born as Shi Eryi on 1 November 1911 in Dayao County, Yunnan, China (then Republic of China). In 1938, he joined the Communist Party. During the Second Sino-Japanese War, he fought in the New Fourth Army.
In October 2022, Shi was reported as the second-oldest living man in Shanghai, after Yang Longsheng. In July 2023, he was reported as the oldest living man in Shanghai, following the death of [112-year-old Yang Longsheng.
In the late 2022, he contracted COVID-19, but he later recovered, making him one of the oldest known survivors of the disease. After that, he became deaf, and is no longer lucid.
On 2 April 2024, following the death of 114-year-old Juan Vicente Perez Mora of Venezuela, he became the world’s oldest living man.
Shi Ping died in Xuhui District, Shanghai, China on 29 June 2024 at the age of 112 years, 241 days. Following his death, then 111-year-old John Tinniswood, became the oldest living man in the world.

Validation
Shi Ping’s age was verified by Brian Hsu, Dr. Shi Yigong and Shi Ping’s family members, and validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) on 4 August 2024. He is the first fully validated supercentenarian in China in history.
Upon the validation of Shi Ping, he has been retrospectively recognized as the WORLD’s OLDEST MAN following the death of 114-year old Juan Vicente Perez Mora of Venezuela. He was the last surviving man born in 1911.
