Biography

Piedad Loriente Pérez was born in Agüero, Aragon, Spain on 11 September 1911. She married railwayman Lorenzo Allué Rubiela and had a daughter, Ángeles Allué Loriente.

When she was widowed at the age of 61, Loriente Pérez moved in with her daughter and son-in-law. At the age of 99, she moved into a care home in Zaragoza, Aragon. Since she was 103, she has suffered from dementia, but was reported to still be in good health, full of cheer and positivity. As a centenarian, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, and eating.

In December 2020, at the age of 109, Loriente Pérez recovered from a bout of COVID-19, making her one of the oldest people to overcome the virus.

On 11 September 2021, Loriente Pérez celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian. At the age of 110, she had two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

On 11 September 2024, her 113th birthday, following the death of 114-year-old Silveria Martín Díaz, Loriente Pérez became the oldest living person in Spain.

Piedad Loriente Pérez died in Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain, on 23 November 2024, at the age of 113 years, 73 days.
