Biography
Mary Ann Dormer (often known as “Minnie”) was born in Leeds County (now Leeds and Grenville united counties), Ontario, Canada, on August 12 1882 to parents John Berry and Annabella (“Bella”) (nee Gallery) Dormer.
On September 4 1912 she married Albert Victor Pender Rhodes (known by “Victor”) in Leeds County, going on to have at least one child together – a son. Victor passed away on December 21 1954, after which Mary remained a widow.
In August 1992 she became a supercentenarian on reaching her 110th birthday. This was to be the first of six such occasions.
Mary passed away in a care facility in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, on March 3 1998, aged 115 years, 203 days.
