Biography
Marcelle Pressac was born in Turgon, Charente, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, on March 10 1913. She walked 3 kilometers to school and back every day in wooden shoes. She was awarded her certificat d’études primaires at the age of 12, and went on to work as a chambermaid in Charente and later Paris.
At some point, she married a man with the surname Demorgny and had five children, all of whom she outlived between 2014 and 2017. In 1959, she briefly met then-US President Dwight D. Eisenhower in Paris. At the age of 108, she enjoyed going for walks with her friend Janine Rousseau. She would stay at Rousseau’s house for several nights every week, and lived independently the rest of the time.
In March 2023, Demorgny celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian.
Marcelle Demorgny currently lives in Champagne-Mouton, Charente, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, at the age of 113.
