Biography
Bonita Bell Spear was born in Hoxie, Sheridan County, Kansas, USA, on July 4 1911. By 1920 she was living with relatives in Missouri, after the marriage breakup of her parents.
In early 1930 she married Kenneth Russell Gibson and had one child together – a son. The family moved to Idaho before 1940. Bonita was widowed on October 17 2003, after which she never remarried. At some point after this she moved to Michigan.
In July 2021 she became a supercentenarian on turning 110. This was to be the first of five such birthdays.
Bonita passed away in Canton, Wayne County, Michigan on March 10 2026 at the age of 114 years, 249 days. She was the oldest living person in Michigan before her passing, as well as the second-oldest living person in the US.
