One of Michigan’s oldest residents passes away at 113

The Gerontology Research Group is saddened to relay news of the passing of one of Michigan’s oldest residents, Louise Burkhalter.
Etta Louise Jones (known by her middle name) was born in Hillsborough County, Florida, on November 13 1912. At the age of 17 in 1929 she married Carl Burkhalter and moved to Michigan, having four children together. Louise was sadly widowed in 1992. She became a supercentenarian in November 2022, going on to have three more such birthdays.
Louise passed away in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on February 23 2026, aged 113 years, 102 days. The GRG extends it’s sympathies to the family, friends and all who knew her.
