Harue Baba, the oldest living person in Miyazaki Prefecture, dies at 111

The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is sadden to reported that Mrs. Harue Baba (馬場ハルエ), the oldest living person in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan, sadly passed away of natural causes in Saito City (西都市) on 16 February 2026 at the final age of 111 years and 333 days.
Harue Baba was born in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan, on 20 March 1914 (Taishō 3).
On 20 March 2024, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Her age was verified by Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare, Japan and Saito City, and validated by the GRG on 15 October 2024.
On 7 November 2024, following the death of 111-year-old Yuriko Tsurumaru (鶴丸百合子) of Kobayashi City (小林市), she became the oldest living person in Miyazaki Prefecture.
Harue Baba passed away of natrual causes in Saito City, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan, on 16 February 2026, at the age of 111 years and 333 days. Following her death, then 108-year-old Ryō Maeda (前田良, born 24 March 1917) of Miyakonojō City became the oldest living person in Miyazaki Prefecture.
