Andrée Bertoletto, France’s second-oldest person, dies at 114

The Gerontology Research Group is saddened to announce the death of Andree Bertoletto of France on October 16 2025, aged 114.

Andrée Bertoletto was born in La Chapelle-Anthenaise, Mayenne, Pays de la Loire, France, on 1 January 1911. On 25 May 1935, in Montsûrs, she married Désiré Alphonse Désiderio Alfonso Bertoletto. She was widowed in 1978. The couple had no children.

She resided in her own home until the age of 105, when she endured a challenging night cleaning up after a flood. Subsequently, she moved to a nursing home.

On 1 January 2025, her 114th birthday, she was visited by GRG Correspondent for France, Sylvain Grosgeorge.

Andrée Bertoletto passed away in Montsûrs, Mayenne, Pays de la Loire, France, at the age of 114 years, 288 days. She was the second-oldest living person in France, behind Marie-Rose Tessier.

The GRG extends its condolences to the family, friends, care staff and all who knew Mrs Bertoletto.
